Update your Vehicle IDs |
Updated Aug 8, 2008 Version 12.9 |
In Version 12.8+, there is a new utility to update your Vehicle IDs.
Here's how to run this:
- Close then reopen TripTracker.
- Go to File then Backup System to get a backup before running this. This is crucial, since the utility changes lots of critical data.
- Once the backup is complete, save the attached form ZTransferVehicles.FDL to your C:\TripWin folder. It should not replace an existing file.
- Then, go to File then Project Viewer, and click Forms on the left, and double-click ZTransferVehicles.FDL on the right.
- It will display a list of all of your vehicles, including how many trips or invoices use the vehicle.
- Put the new name for each vehicle in the New column. Warning - do not use an existing vehicle ID as a new one, also do not use the same ID more than once. If you do, all the trips for both vehicles will show under one vehicle ID.
- You do not have to enter all of the new names at once. It will only update for vehicles where you've entered a new value.
- Once all have been entered, click the 'Change Trips to New Vehicle IDs' button.
- This will update the Reserv, Invoice, and Vehicle tables, changing each vehicle ID.
- Note that this will not update any archived data. Also, obviously, this will not update any reports that have already been printed, so you might want to keep a list of the old names vs. the new names.
